WHAT IS MISTRAL MANAGED BACKUP?
The service creates backup copies of your data files on servers located in secure data centers.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Mistral Managed Backup is based on a small application that is installed on your system. You select the list of files to backup.
Then, at a frequency that you designate, typically hourly or daily, the data is sent to our secure servers at the Infomart in Dallas. That data is then replicated to our backup site in London.
The system is completely secure because the data is encrypted before it ever leaves the machine on which it resides.
Single files, groups of files or even specific versions of files are then available to you to restore at any time.
FREQUENCY
Backups of user data can normally be scheduled daily or even hourly.
FAST-BIT BACKUP
After initial backup, backups are quite fast because only changes are sent to the server. This includes changes inside a file i.e. just those slides that have changed in a PowerPoint presentation are sent and not the whole file. This means little extra space is used for the version history capability.
VERSION HISTORY
You can restore multiple files or any single file from your backup. Additionally, any individual version of a file you saved within the last 30 days may also be restored.
MONITORED
All backups are monitored by Mistral Support and if a failure is detected, the customer will be contacted.
MULTIPLE COPIES
Backups are made to our two independent secure data centers, the Infomart in Dallas and Telehouse in London.
Tape backups are made at Telehouse, which are then moved to a third secure offsite facility.
OTHER DATA
Options exist for open files, SQL data and Exchange data.
BusinessVision Disaster Recovery
Our BusinessVision DR solution allows you remote access to our servers running BusinessVision, in the event of a failure of your own computers. For a small monthly insurance fee, your data will be available within one business hour of notifying us, after which you can resume use of BusinessVision. Access can be from your existing offices if your internet connectivity is still operational or from any other location where you can obtain internet access. The choice of locations can be restricted depending on the level of security desired.
Office Disaster Recovery
Similarly, our Office DR solution allows you remote access to our servers running Microsoft Office in the event of a failure of your own computers. For a small monthly insurance fee, your data will be available within one business hour of notifying us, and you can resume using Office.
Exchange Disaster Recovery
By including a special form of Exchange backup as part of the Remote Backup Service, we are able to provide a service, for a small monthly insurance fee, that allows us to host your mailboxes in the event of a failure of your Exchange server. Access can then be via Outlook Web Access or by reconfiguring your Outlook clients to point to our server in the event of an emergency.
SQL Replication
With a secure VPN connection into our network, we are able to offer customers the ability to replicate SQL data, transaction by transaction, to our enterprise SQL server. This means you would have up-to-the-minute backups of your data in the event of a failure of your server, rather than the more common scenario of a tape backup at the end of the previous day, or worse, if there is a fire or similar occurrence during a normal business day.
Managed Storage
With managed storage, the customer can rent or purchase storage from us in various sizes starting at 30GB. The server, using RAID 5 disks, is placed on the customer premises and users can simply point to it for storage of their data. The unit is backed up using our remote backup service every hour and can be expanded quickly as your needs grow.
